Senior Accounts Specialist

Full-time (35 hours over 5 days), Flexible working hours available

We are on the lookout for a knowledgeable and motivated accounts specialist who is either ACA / ACCA certified with a minimum of 12 months post-qualification experience or part qualified with 5 to 6 years of relevant experience.

  • Standard working hours are 9 AM to 5 PM, with flexibility to adjust to 8 AM to 4 PM or 10 AM to 6 PM

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the daily administration of client accounts, including but not limited to:
  • Preparation of self-employed and partnership accounts
  • Filing personal and partnership tax returns, including for high-net-worth clients
  • Preparation of statutory accounts (primarily FRS105 and FRS 102(1a), with some IFRS for UK subsidiaries of international groups)
  • Completion of corporate tax returns
  • Conduct quarterly VAT reviews and produce in-year management accounts
  • Engage in tax planning and business development related to the above tasks
  • Supervise junior staff and assist in their professional growth
  • Oversee client workflow and staff management systems to ensure timely completion of tasks
  • Report to the director group on administrative matters
  • Promote the practice and network with clients, prospects, and intermediaries
  • Collaborate with colleagues in our financial planning division to provide integrated wealth management advice
  • Utilize your initiative to address and resolve issues effectively.

Qualifications and Skills Required:

  • A minimum of 4 to 5 years of experience in practice, including the qualification period, ideally within a general practice setting.
  • Familiarity with Iris, Sage 50, Sage Online, QuickBooks Cloud, Xero, Dext, and Excel is advantageous, though training will be provided as needed.
  • Demonstrated up-to-date knowledge of current tax regulations.
  • Strong IT proficiency.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Confident demeanor, capable of engaging with a variety of clients and colleagues.
  • Ability to meet tight deadlines and perform under pressure.
  • Strong numerical skills.
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy.
  • A collaborative team player.
  • Minimum GCSEs of grade C or above in Maths and English, with strong results at GCSE and A-level (a degree is not mandatory).
  • Valid driving license.
  • Willingness to work across multiple offices with a diverse client portfolio.
