Job Title: Regional General Counsel
Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Regional General Counsel to join our team at Scott Bader. As a key member of our legal department, you will provide strategic legal advice to our business leaders and stakeholders, ensuring that our commercial activities are conducted in a compliant and risk-managed manner.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide expert legal advice on commercial agreements and contracts, ensuring that our business interests are protected.
- Develop and implement effective legal strategies to mitigate risks and ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
- Collaborate with our commercial teams to develop and implement efficient and scalable approaches for building multi-jurisdictional customer and supplier/partner arrangements.
- Advise on avoiding and managing disputes, including risk assessment, negotiating settlements, drafting correspondence, and preparing for litigation.
- Manage or participate in legal projects to improve the delivery of advice, compliance, and legal services to the business.
- Liaise with external advisors on aspects of commercial, company, and corporate law.
- Ensure that our legal and commercial processes are continuously improved to enhance the speed of on-boarding customers and suppliers in a risk-assessed manner.
- Maintain up-to-date legal registers on legislation affecting the business.
- Support the development of policies, processes, templates, tools, and training to meet and facilitate Scott Bader's strategic objectives.
Requirements:
- Proven experience providing legal advice on commercial agreements.
- Ability to analyze complex contractual terms and factual scenarios, identify legal and commercial risks, and devise strategies for mitigating them.
- Comfortable leading the legal aspects of contract negotiations and aptitude for identifying the strengths and weaknesses of different arguments and negotiating effectively.
- Strong commercial awareness and understanding of the role of an in-house legal team.
