Your Responsibilities and Impact
  • Oversee the onsite People team to provide effective personnel advice, manage employee relations cases, and drive colleague engagement initiatives.
  • Collaborate with the onsite General Manager and DC Senior Leadership team, offering coaching and mentorship as required.
  • Facilitate training to support individual and team development objectives.
  • Identify management development opportunities and assist in performance assessment reviews.
  • Foster a culture of performance and cost-awareness using data insights to highlight continuous improvement opportunities.
  • Monitor and evaluate people-related KPIs against targets, focusing on absence management controls and service levels linked to engagement.
  • Develop a recruitment strategy aligned with site resource planning, coordinating with third-party agencies and the central team as necessary.
  • Ensure a comprehensive onboarding process for new colleagues, providing a smooth and informative experience regarding rewards, benefits, policies, health and safety, and compliance.
  • Create and implement local communication strategies to ensure business consistency and colleague engagement.
  • Assist the Senior Leadership team in executing colleague engagement action plans (annual engagement survey, Joint Consultative Committee, health and safety committee).
  • Chair and participate in local Joint Consultative Committee meetings, collaborating with the onsite Trade Union.
  • Provide specialized support for complex employee relations casework (performance, grievance, and disciplinary matters) when necessary.
Required Skills and Knowledge
  • Relevant CIPD qualification or in progress, with a commitment to ongoing professional development.
  • Solid understanding of employee relations with applicable HR operational experience.
  • Awareness of best practice HR interventions and experience advising managers on employment law issues.
  • Experience in driving effective resourcing solutions in a fast-paced retail/distribution setting.
  • Comprehension of business priorities and the ability to balance these with the people agenda.
  • Leadership experience emphasizing the importance of teamwork.
  • Expertise in performance management and development.
