Trainee Shift Manager Job Description

About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and ambitious individual to join our team as a Trainee Shift Manager at McDonald's Tunbridge Wells. This exciting opportunity will provide you with a comprehensive training program designed to prepare you for a future leadership role in our organisation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Learn and understand our company's policies, procedures, and operational standards.
  • Assist with day-to-day operations, including team management, customer service, and problem resolution.
  • Gain hands-on experience in supervising and coaching team members to ensure high-quality service and efficiency.
  • Participate in inventory management, ordering supplies, and ensuring optimal stock levels.
  • Collaborate with other managers and departments to meet organisational goals and standards.
  • Develop strong leadership skills, problem-solving abilities, and decision-making competencies.
  • Demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills with both team members and customers.

Training and Development Plan

The Trainee Shift Manager position is a stepping stone towards becoming a full Shift Manager within our organisation. To ensure your successful development, you will go through a structured training and development program, including:

  • Orientation and Onboarding: You will receive an orientation to familiarise you with our company culture, policies, and the role's expectations.
  • Shadowing and Mentorship: You will work alongside experienced Shift Managers to observe and learn best practices.
  • Training Modules: You will complete training modules covering leadership, operational procedures, team management, and customer service.
  • Hands-on Experience: You will gradually take on more responsibilities as you gain confidence and experience.
  • Performance Reviews: Regular performance reviews will be conducted to assess your progress and provide feedback.
  • Graduation to Full Shift Manager: Upon successful completion of the training period and meeting performance expectations, you will be promoted to a full Shift Manager position.

Qualifications and Requirements

To be considered for the Trainee Shift Manager position, candidates should possess the following:

  • A strong desire to pursue a career in shift management.
  • High school diploma or equivalent (higher education is a plus).
  • Availability for a flexible, full-time schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to make decisions under pressure.
