Position Overview

AAK is looking for a dedicated Mechanical Site Engineer to become a vital part of our Hull Maintenance team. This full-time role operates from Monday to Friday and presents an exciting opportunity to contribute to our engineering solutions for plant-related challenges.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure a safe working environment by adhering to site safety protocols and procedures.
  • Develop and implement engineering standards in collaboration with the Global operations team, aligning with both national and international benchmarks.
  • Act as the primary liaison and coordinator for Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) maintenance initiatives and enhancement projects.
  • Assist in critical maintenance operations to minimize downtime and transition from reactive to planned maintenance.
  • Oversee all compliance and statutory inspections and modifications, ensuring proper documentation is maintained.
  • Collaborate with maintenance teams to effectively schedule maintenance activities, including area and annual plant shutdowns.
  • Manage relationships with external contractors to ensure adherence to site contractor standards.
  • Support inventory management to guarantee that essential spare parts are adequately stocked.
  • Ensure timely scheduling and completion of all compliance and statutory inspections, including setting up service contracts where necessary.
  • Accurately allocate costs in accordance with AAK's financial guidelines for OPEX and CAPEX.
  • Be accountable for the mechanical integrity of the ammonia systems on-site and work towards upgrading the ammonia compressor facilities to a world-class standard.

Candidate Profile:

The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications and skills:

  • Completion of HNC/HND in Engineering is essential; a degree in a relevant engineering discipline is preferred.
  • Proficient understanding of Maintenance Management and techniques.
  • Familiarity with reliability principles, including criticality analysis, downtime assessments, Mean Time To Repair (MTTR), Mean Time Between Failures (MTBF), and critical spare parts management.
  • Ability to devise engineering solutions for complex challenges.
  • Solid understanding of current compliance regulations.
  • Proficient in computer applications.
  • Demonstrated leadership capabilities.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Meticulous attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Adept at managing and prioritizing multiple tasks.
