About the Role

A leading manufacturer of plant-based oils is seeking a skilled Mechanical Engineer to join their Hull Maintenance team. As a key member of the team, you will be responsible for supporting daily maintenance activities and providing engineering solutions to plant issues.

Main Responsibilities
  • Ensure a safe working environment through the application of site safety policies and procedures.
  • Develop and implement site engineering standards in collaboration with the Global Operations team, adhering to national and international standards.
  • Act as the primary liaison and coordinator for OEM maintenance programs and improvement projects.
  • Support key maintenance activities to reduce downtime and reactive maintenance, promoting a shift to planned work.
  • Oversee all compliance and statutory-related inspections and modifications, including documentation, excluding electrical work.
  • Collaborate with maintenance teams to coordinate scheduled maintenance activities with operations, ensuring effective planning and execution.
  • Manage relationships with external contractors to align on site contractor standards.
  • Support stores in ensuring critical spares are stocked and managed.
  • Ensure timely completion of compliance and statutory inspections, setting up service contracts where applicable.
  • Accurately allocate costs relative to OPEX and CAPEX in accordance with AAK's financial specifications.
  • Be accountable for the mechanical integrity of the site's ammonia systems and upgrade the Ammonia compressor rooms to world-class standards.
About You

The successful candidate will possess the following skills and experience:

  • A time-served HNC/HND in Engineering is essential; a degree in a relevant Engineering discipline is desirable.
  • Working knowledge of Maintenance Management and techniques.
  • Knowledge of reliability principles, criticality analysis, downtime reviews, MTTR, MTBF, and critical spares.
  • Ability to develop engineering solutions to complex issues.
  • Good understanding of current Compliance regulations.
  • Computer literacy.
  • Proven leadership capabilities.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Able to manage and prioritize workloads.
