Building Control Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Building Control Officer/Surveyor to join our team at Michael Page (UK). As a key member of our Building Control function, you will play a crucial role in ensuring that building work within our district is managed effectively and in compliance with relevant regulations.
Key Responsibilities- Manage the day-to-day control of building work, including site inspections and enforcement.
- Lead contact for major/complex projects, ensuring compliance with Building Regulations and ancillary legislation.
- Check plans and notices for compliance, prepare amendment schedules, and correspond with relevant parties.
- Inspect work on site, ensure fees and charges are recovered, and undertake investigations of alleged breaches of Building Regulations.
- Liaise with clients, industry professionals, and other stakeholders to ensure effective communication and collaboration.
- Contribute to the effective marketing of Local Authority Building Control and maintain awareness of the competitive nature of Local Authority Building Control.
- Assist in the commercial development of the group, recognizing and taking advantage of additional revenue streams.
- Participate in cross-boundary and partnership working with other local authorities as required.
- Provide advice to the public and other departments/groups on Building Regulation and construction matters.
- Administer Initial Notices, Plans Certificates, and Final Certificates relating to The Building (Approved Inspectors etc.)
- Investigate building failures, prepare reports, and provide evidence for insurance purposes.
- Provide information concerning the progress of construction works for statistical returns.
- Prepare information required for Land charges Searches relating to the Building Regulations.
We are looking for a competent and experienced Building Control professional, registered to minimum Class 2. You will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
As a Building Control Officer/Surveyor, you will be responsible for ensuring that building work within our district is managed effectively and in compliance with relevant regulations. You will work closely with clients, industry professionals, and other stakeholders to ensure effective communication and collaboration.
