Building Control Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Building Control Officer/Surveyor to join our team at Michael Page (UK).
The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the day-to-day control of building work within the district, ensuring compliance with Building Regulations and ancillary legislation.
Key Responsibilities- Manage the day-to-day control of building work within the district.
- Lead contact for major/complex projects, including plans examination, site inspections, and enforcement.
- Check plans and notices for compliance with Building Regulations and ancillary legislation.
- Correspond with various bodies and individuals regarding plans, notices, and other matters.
- Inspect work on site in connection with all types of development.
- Ensure fees and charges are recovered in relation to Building Control applications.
- Investigate alleged breaches of Building Regulations, including identification of contraventions and gathering of evidence.
- Maintain concise and organised records of site inspections, telephone conversations, meetings, and emails.
- Liaise with clients and industry professionals, including architects, surveyors, engineers, agents, contractors, etc.
- Undertake routine written work, correspondence, and other administrative duties.
- Contribute to the effective marketing of Local Authority Building Control locally and nationally.
- Assist the Building Control Manager with the commercial development of the group.
- Be involved in cross-boundary and partnership working with other local authorities.
- Assist in the business-based management of the group to ensure statutory requirements are achieved.
- Give advice to the public and other ENC Departments/Groups on Building Regulation and construction matters.
- Advise applicants and consider applications for the dispensation of Building Regulation requirements.
- Organise the testing of controlled services and materials when necessary.
- Carry out prompt investigations and inspections of dangerous structures.
- Carry out investigations, inspections, and related actions in respect of the control of demolitions.
- Administer Initial Notices, Plans Certificates, and Final Certificates.
- Investigate building failures, including preparation of reports and evidence for insurance purposes.
- Provide information concerning the progress of construction works for statistical returns.
- Prepare information required for Land charges Searches relating to the Building Regulations.
- Liaise with other groups within the council in respect of matters of common interest.
- Assist in the promotion of the group and dissemination of changing regulatory requirements.
Competent and experienced within Building Control functions. Registered to minimum Class 2.
