Senior Design Manager

EKFB is proud to have been appointed by HS2 to deliver civil engineering works across an 80km section of the new high speed rail link between the Chiltern Tunnel and Long Itchington Wood. We're seeking a highly skilled Senior Design Manager to lead the section design delivery teams and technical assurance team for efficient delivery of the design phase and design changes along the construction phase.
Key Responsibilities- Manage and enable the timely delivery of integrated design programmes in line with the construction and overall project programme, considering quantities and cost implications.
- Ensure overall technical accountability for design delivery within the section, coordinating designs involving multiple disciplines, ensuring buildability, and compliance with requirements.
- Establish a collaborative working environment within the C23 IPT to deliver best project outcomes.
- Liaise closely with Design Discipline leads and Technical Function Senior Management Team to ensure consistent design delivery across the project.
- Guide and oversee design activities from PW and TW designers, ensuring a consistent approach across the project.
- Support the Technical Delivery Director and Technical Director with commercial management of designers and design risk management.
- Review and report design delivery performance in the section, including cost, programme, contract, scope, progress, change, compliance, governance, etc.
We're looking for a highly skilled and experienced professional with a strong background in design management, preferably with a Chartered Civil Engineer or similar qualification. You should have experience in leading and overseeing design delivery for permanent works, temporary works, utilities, and engineering processes, including overall consents of the works. Strong communication skills and the ability to manage commercial aspects of design contracts are essential.
