Senior Design Manager

EKFB is proud to have been appointed by HS2 to deliver civil engineering works across an 80km section of the new high speed rail link between the Chiltern Tunnel and Long Itchington Wood. We're seeking a highly skilled Senior Design Manager to lead the section design delivery teams and technical assurance team for efficient delivery of the design phase and design changes along the construction phase.
Key Responsibilities- Manage and enable the timely delivery of integrated design and design consenting programmes in line with the construction and overall project programme.
- Ensure overall technical accountability for the design/technical delivery within the section, including coordination of designs involving multiple disciplines, buildability, and compliance with requirements.
- Establish a collaborative working environment within the C23 IPT to deliver the best project outcomes.
- Liaise closely with Design Discipline leads and other Technical Function Senior Management Team to ensure delivery of designs with a consistent approach across the project.
- Ensure Designers' requirements for reliance information are timely articulated and actioned by relevant EKFB personnel.
- Guide and oversee design activities from PW and TW designers related to the Section, in coordination with the Technical Delivery Director.
- Support the Technical Delivery Director and Technical Director with commercial management of designers, liaising with the Commercial team as required.
- Review and report design delivery performance in the section, including cost, programme, contract, scope, progress, change, compliance, governance, etc.
- Ensure compliance with the CDM 2015 Regulations.
We're looking for a highly skilled and experienced professional with a strong background in design management, preferably with a Chartered Civil Engineer or similar qualification. You'll have a proven track record of leading and overseeing design delivery for permanent works, temporary works, utilities, and engineering processes, including overall consents of the works. Strong communication skills at multiple organizational levels, internally and externally, are essential.
