Consultant in General Emergency Surgery with Expertise

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Consultant in General Surgery to join our team at Barts Health NHS Trust. As a key member of our surgical team, you will play a pivotal role in delivering high-quality care to our patients and contributing to the development of our emergency general surgery strategy.
Main Responsibilities- Deliver high-volume, low-complexity day case surgery at Newham University Hospital, focusing on complex benign colorectal and proctology surgery.
- Develop and lead a world-class service in emergency general surgery, working closely with our multidisciplinary team to improve patient outcomes.
- Contribute to the teaching and assessment of junior doctors and medical students, ensuring the next generation of surgeons receives the best possible training.
- Participate in clinical audit and research, applying evidence-based practice to improve patient care and outcomes.

Requirements- Proven expertise in emergency general surgery, with a strong track record of delivering high-quality care.
- Widespread knowledge of all aspects of general surgery, with a focus on colorectal surgery.
- Experience in training and mentoring junior doctors and medical students.
- Ability to lead and manage a team, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
