Position Overview:

The Automation Solutions Engineer is responsible for overseeing the deployment and activation of advanced automation systems, including Automated Guided Vehicles (AGVs) and KION's innovative automated solutions. This role encompasses planning, installation, commissioning, and the successful handover of automation systems to clients.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the installation, commissioning, and acceptance testing of automated systems at client locations.
  • Modify AGV routes and system parameters to optimize performance.
  • Develop code to align system functionality with the specifications provided by Project Managers.
  • Conduct thorough testing and validation of the complete solution, ensuring compliance with industry standards.
  • Engage in risk and impact assessments in collaboration with Project Managers prior to final client delivery.
  • Coordinate project activities and provide updates in partnership with the Project Management team to ensure successful project execution.
  • Facilitate controlled demonstrations of AGV systems at various locations.
  • Implement proof of concept configurations for automation solutions within client operations.
  • Deliver training sessions for end-users to ensure effective system utilization.
  • Act as a technical consultant for the service organization, providing support on-site and through digital platforms.
  • Conduct damage assessments and implement corrective actions as necessary.
  • Collaborate with automation partners to identify root causes of issues and expedite resolutions.
  • Monitor key performance indicators on-site and recommend action plans for improvement.
  • Provide pre-sale and post-sale application support to clients.
  • Complete all required training and certifications as mandated by management.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Proficiency in programming languages such as KIWI, C, C++, MATLAB, or Python is essential.
  • A completed vocational training in mechatronics or electronics, or a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or Computer Science.
  • Familiarity with complex industrial projects, particularly in sectors like Industrial Robotics, Automotive, or Aeronautics.
  • Willingness to travel extensively, primarily within the UK and Ireland, with potential travel across Europe.
  • Experience in the commissioning of sophisticated systems is advantageous.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to effectively represent the company to clients.
  • Fluency in spoken and written English is required.
  • Interest in software development and programming.
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities and self-motivation.
  • Strong attention to detail and effective listening skills.
  • A valid driving license is necessary.
