We are seeking a highly skilled Security Officer to join our team at Charles River Laboratories in Tranent. As a Security Officer, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safety and security of our employees, visitors, and facilities.
Key Responsibilities- Control and monitor staff and visitor entry and exit from Charles River.
- Custody, issue, and control of keys.
- Conduct regular building and site foot patrols.
- Respond to emergencies and initiate early response.
- Monitor CCTV feeds from multiple facilities.
- React to intruder detection and surveillance system alarms.
- Monitor and respond to automatic fire detection system alarms.
- Perform periodic testing of the automatic fire detection system.
- Respond to environmental monitoring system alarms and maintain records.
- Maintain records and documentation applicable to the security task.
- Undertake site maintenance duties as required.
- Participate in overtime to cover colleague annual leave/sickness.
- Previous experience in a security environment is essential.
- Enthusiasm, effective communication, and proven written, verbal, and numeric skills.
- Ability to work routine shift patterns and follow standard operating procedures during emergencies.
- Keyboard and basic IT skills, with experience of Microsoft Windows-based databases.
- Act as the first point of contact for visitors and clients.
- Proven customer service skills and ability to deal with people at all levels.
- Current driving license is essential.
