Children and Young Person's Independent Domestic Violence Advisor

About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Children and Young Person's Independent Domestic Violence Advisor (CYP IDVA) to join our team on a maternity cover basis. As a CYP IDVA, you will play a vital role in providing specialist support and advocacy to young survivors of domestic abuse, aged 13-25.
Key Responsibilities
- Work with young survivors, holding a caseload of varying complexity, prioritizing high-risk cases
- Conduct comprehensive needs and risk assessments
- Develop and implement individualized safety and support plans, advocacy, practical support, and information
- Participate in the Multi-Agency Risk Assessment Conference (MARAC)
- Attend multi-disciplinary meetings, including child protection and child in need
- Utilize a person-centered, survivor-focused approach, being mindful of the effects of trauma and additional barriers to access that children and young people may experience
- Lead on the development of responses to the needs of at-risk young survivors and their families, and the development of relationships and referral pathways with partner agencies in this area
- Assist in delivering training and provide consultancy and advice to other agencies
Requirements
- Understanding of the issues faced by young survivors experiencing domestic abuse
- Knowledge of risk assessment, safety planning, and risk management
- Understanding of safeguarding issues and the legal responsibilities surrounding these
- Experience of delivering services to survivors of domestic abuse and/or other vulnerable people
- Experience of working within a multi-agency and legislative framework
- Experience of managing a complex caseload, able to prioritize work effectively
- Ability to deliver individualized safety and support plans with knowledge of risk reduction
- Ability to deliver training sessions to professional agencies
- Ability to self-reflect, identify own needs, and put in place effective self-care strategies
