About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Children and Young Person's Independent Domestic Violence Advisor (CYP IDVA) to join our team in Brighton & Hove. As a CYP IDVA, you will play a critical role in empowering young survivors of domestic abuse to identify features and dynamics of abuse, and provide them with individualized safety and support plans, advocacy, and practical support.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct comprehensive needs and risk assessments for young survivors aged 13-25yo
  • Develop and implement individualized safety and support plans, prioritizing high-risk cases
  • Participate in the Multi-Agency Risk Assessment Conference (MARAC) and attend multi-disciplinary meetings
  • Use a person-centred, survivor-focused approach, being mindful of the effects of trauma and additional barriers to access that children and young people may experience
  • Develop responses to the needs of at-risk young survivors and their families, and build relationships with partner agencies
Requirements
  • Understanding of the issues faced by young survivors experiencing domestic abuse
  • Good understanding of risk assessment, safety planning, and risk management for children and young people at risk of domestic abuse
  • Experience of delivering services to survivors of domestic abuse and/or other vulnerable people
  • Experience of working within a multi-agency and legislative framework
  • Ability to deliver individualized safety and support plans, demonstrating sufficient knowledge of risk reduction regarding harmful practices and modern slavery
