About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and efficient Administrative Assistant to join our Ophthalmology Department within the Surgical Services Division. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for providing administrative and clerical support to ensure the smooth operation of the department.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide administrative support to the Ophthalmology Department, including answering telephones, responding to emails, and maintaining accurate records.
  • Book patient appointments and manage waiting lists, ensuring timely and accurate updates to the system.
  • Use the NHS E-Referral Service to upload referral letters to EPIC, maintaining accurate and up-to-date patient information.
  • Provide effective communication to patients and staff, ensuring a positive and efficient experience.
  • Work collaboratively with the team to achieve shared goals and objectives, contributing to a fast-paced and dynamic environment.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in an administrative role, preferably in a healthcare setting.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with patients and staff at all levels.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Proficiency in using computer software, including Microsoft Office and EPIC.
  • Able to work flexibly, including working hours, to meet the needs of the department.
