About the Role

GSL Education is seeking a dedicated and passionate SEMH Teaching Assistant to join our team at a school in Ashington. As a SEMH Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting children with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide individualized support to students with SEMH needs, helping them to develop their social and emotional skills.
  • Collaborate with teachers to create a safe and nurturing environment, promoting positive social interactions and emotional well-being.
  • Assist in planning and delivering lessons tailored to individual student needs, helping students to overcome barriers to learning.
  • Support students in developing independence and life skills, promoting a sense of self-confidence and self-worth.
  • Work closely with other staff and external professionals to create personalized support plans, ensuring a comprehensive and coordinated approach to student support.
Requirements
  • Experience working with children with SEMH needs (desirable)
  • A positive and patient attitude, with a strong commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to manage challenging behavior calmly and effectively.
  • An enhanced DBS on the update service or the willingness to obtain one.
