SEMH Teaching Assistant Role

GSL Education is seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEMH Teaching Assistant to join our team in a supportive and inclusive secondary school in Ashington.

About the Role:

We are looking for an individual who is passionate about supporting students with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. As a SEMH Teaching Assistant, you will provide personalized support to students, both one-to-one and in small groups, to help them overcome barriers to learning.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide tailored support to students with SEMH needs, promoting their emotional well-being and academic progress.
  • Assist in planning and delivering engaging lessons that cater to individual learning requirements.
  • Monitor and track student progress, providing constructive feedback to teachers and parents.
  • Foster a positive learning environment, encouraging student participation and emotional well-being.
  • Support classroom behaviour management, promoting positive behaviour strategies.

Requirements:

  • Experience working with children or young people with SEMH needs.
  • A strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection practices.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with teachers and parents.
  • A relevant qualification in Education or Psychology is desirable but not essential.
