Position Overview

Role: Youth Engagement Specialist

Objective: To connect with and support young individuals and their families.

Job Responsibilities

The Youth Engagement Specialist will work closely with local authorities to provide essential support to young individuals aged up to 25, particularly those with learning disabilities or those transitioning from care. The primary focus will be on engaging with youth in custody settings, ensuring alignment with the objectives of the Youth Diversionary Programme.

Key Duties Include:

  1. Initiating and fostering meaningful connections with young individuals in custody.
  2. Assessing and identifying the unique needs and risks of each young person using established screening tools.
  3. Delivering targeted support and evidence-based interventions as part of a comprehensive Early Help strategy.
  4. Providing guidance, making referrals, and directing young individuals to appropriate support services.
  5. Conducting follow-up meetings in the community with young individuals and their families to address ongoing support needs.
  6. Collaborating with families to identify community resources and positive engagement opportunities.
Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A minimum of two years of experience working with vulnerable youth aged 11-19.
  • Proven ability to assess and manage a caseload of young individuals with complex needs and challenging behaviors.
  • Experience in delivering high-quality interventions that promote positive lifestyle changes and prevent adverse outcomes.
  • Strong skills in building positive, professional relationships with young individuals and an understanding of the challenges they face.
