The Role

We're seeking an experienced underwriter to drive the profitable growth of our North regional commercial business. You'll join a high-performing Business Development Team, underwriting traded new business and promoting Hiscox in the North region.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop a deep understanding of the local market and build strong relationships with brokers
  • Promote Hiscox's products and services through training, presentations, and advocacy
  • Underwrite complex cases consistently and profitably
  • Execute the local underwriting strategy in conjunction with regional stakeholders
  • Provide feedback on areas for improvement and identify new opportunities
  • Focus on product lines and become a specialist in chosen areas
  • Lead underwriting and sales visits to larger clients and prospects
  • Develop close relationships with brokers to drive new business opportunities
  • Keep abreast of the competitive landscape and market trends
Requirements
  • Excellent understanding of P&C and underwriting larger, more complex risks
  • Strong knowledge of the insurance market, industry, competitors, and brokers
  • ACII qualification or willingness to progress to this
  • Excellent relationship management and sales skills
  • Ability to become the face of Hiscox and enhance relationships
