Overview: Our client is seeking to expand their team by hiring a Procurement Category Specialist who will lead procurement initiatives and champion social value within the organization.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Streamline procurement processes to ensure efficient and effective operations from start to finish.
  • Develop and implement procurement strategies aimed at maximizing value for money.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and stakeholders.
  • Analyze market trends to guide procurement decisions.
  • Oversee contract management to ensure compliance and performance standards are met.
  • Drive social value outcomes through procurement activities.
  • Maintain accurate procurement documentation and systems.
  • Promote sustainable procurement practices within the organization.
  • Lead and mentor a team of procurement professionals.

Candidate Profile: The ideal candidate for this role should possess:

  • A proven history in public sector procurement, with a focus on strategic sourcing and category management.
  • Experience in end-to-end category management.
  • Strong negotiation skills and the ability to foster and maintain relationships with stakeholders.
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving capabilities, with a knack for identifying cost-saving opportunities.
  • A comprehensive understanding of procurement best practices, market dynamics, and legal frameworks.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, enabling collaboration with stakeholders at all organizational levels.
  • The ability to produce tailored spend analysis and procurement reports for various audiences to monitor performance and support decision-making.
  • Demonstrable knowledge of procurement processes and the integration of social value into procurement.
  • A commitment to developing a robust supplier base for the procurement of goods and services.
  • Excellent communication skills for engaging with both internal and external colleagues.
