About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Structural Engineer to join our team at Egis Industrie UK. As a Structural Engineer, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safety, integrity, and reliability of the nuclear power plant structures.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and Analysis: Design and analyze reinforced concrete structures for the Nuclear Island Buildings of EPR nuclear power plants, ensuring compliance with applicable codes and standards.
  • Structural Calculations: Perform structural calculations and Finite Element modeling using ANSYS APDL or similar advanced software and tools.
  • Structural Integrity: Ensure the structural integrity and resilience of the reinforced concrete structures under various loads, including seismic, dynamic, impact of temporary works related to the construction sequence and environmental factors.
  • Collaboration: Collaborate with detailing teams, drafting teams, BIM Coordinators, and other designer engineers to ensure coordination and integration of design requirements.
  • Design Changes: Conduct calculations and structural assessments of design changes to determine the impact on the reinforced concrete structures and propose necessary design modifications.
  • Design Documentation: Prepare detailed design drawings, specifications, and construction documentation for the reinforced concrete structures.
  • Construction Support: Conduct structural assessments and evaluations during construction and provide technical support as needed.
  • Site Support: Work closely with construction contractors and site teams to resolve any structural issues or challenges during the construction phase.
  • Technical Guidance: Provide technical guidance and support to junior engineers and draftsmen involved in the structural design and detailing process.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Collaborate with the client, construction team, and regulatory bodies to ensure compliance with nuclear safety regulations and requirements.
  • Industry Knowledge: Stay updated with industry advancements, new technologies, and best practices in nuclear structural engineering.
Requirements:
  • Background: A background of working within the nuclear industry or another highly heavy industry sector.
  • Education: A Master's degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent relevant subject.
  • Experience: Proven experience working on the design and analysis of reinforced concrete structures for nuclear power plants, specifically with European Pressurized Reactors (EPR).
  • Skills: Sound knowledge of nuclear safety principles, regulations, and standards governing the design and construction of nuclear power plant structures.
  • Software Proficiency: Proficiency in using structural analysis software, such as ANSYS, SAP2000, or similar tools.
  • Seismic Analysis: Strong understanding of seismic analysis and design principles for nuclear structures.
  • Problem-Solving: Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a meticulous attention to detail.
  • Professional Licensure: Professional licensure or chartered status in Structural Engineering is advantageous.
  • On-Site Design Support: Experience with on-site design support: working with contractors on site to deliver the implementation of engineering solutions.
  • BIM Modelling: Experience of 3D BIM modeling such as TEKLA, Navisworks will be a plus.
