Key Responsibilities:

We are in search of individuals to fill Chartered, Senior, or Principal Geotechnical Engineering roles within our Ground Engineering division. Candidates should be capable of taking on critical responsibilities in complex geotechnical projects with minimal oversight, enhancing their experience while supporting the broader AtkinsRéalis practice as we expand our team.

The successful candidates will play a pivotal role in our Geotechnical and Numerical Modelling Technical Discipline teams, which are essential to our technical capabilities, ensuring that AtkinsRéalis continues to innovate in geotechnical design and modeling as client expectations evolve.

Qualifications:
  • A strong academic foundation with a relevant engineering degree, ideally complemented by an MSc or PhD in a related field.
  • Extensive experience in numerical modeling using advanced software (e.g., FLAC / FLAC3D, PLAXIS 2D / 3D) and result analysis.
  • Proficiency in validating geotechnical numerical analyses and calibrating numerical models.
  • Experience in conducting geotechnical numerical analyses within interdisciplinary project settings.
  • A commitment to driving digital innovation and enhancing AtkinsRéalis' capabilities in advanced geotechnical analysis and design.
  • Exceptional communication skills with the ability to engage effectively with clients and engineers from various disciplines.
  • Strong report writing skills, with a focus on accuracy and self-review.
  • A keen interest in mentoring and coaching junior team members within the Geotechnical division.
  • A willingness to undertake short-term travel assignments both domestically and internationally.
  • Progressing towards or already holding Chartered status.
  • A valid UK driving license.
Desirable Qualifications:
  • In-depth knowledge of advanced constitutive soil models and parameter selection for non-linear analyses (e.g., dynamic analysis, soil-structure interaction, thermo-mechanical calculations including creep).
  • Experience in programming (e.g., Python, C++) with a focus on geotechnical applications.
  • Demonstrated experience in seismic geotechnical analysis and design, including seismic design for shallow and deep foundations, soil-structure interaction, seismic deformation analyses, seismic response of dams and embankments, liquefaction assessment, and ground improvement.
