About the Role

Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is seeking an experienced Critical Care Staff Nurse to join our Neurosciences Intensive Care team. As a Critical Care Nurse, you will be responsible for providing exceptional patient care, working in partnership with patients, families, and friends, and managing and directing the nursing care for a defined caseload of patients.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide high-quality patient care, underpinned by evidence-based practice and the Trust's values.
  • Work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team to achieve excellent patient outcomes.
  • Manage and direct the nursing care for a defined caseload of patients, ensuring effective communication and coordination with other healthcare professionals.
  • Develop and maintain high standards of nursing care, reflecting the Trust's commitment to excellence and patient safety.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of nursing policies and procedures, ensuring they are aligned with the Trust's values and objectives.
  • Participate in education and training programs to maintain and develop your skills and knowledge, ensuring you remain up-to-date with best practice and the latest developments in critical care.
  • Work proactively to ensure every hospital visit meets the needs of the patient, and that patients are discharged in a timely manner, ensuring effective communication with the family and/or relevant agencies as planned and agreed.

Person Specification

  • Registered Nurse or national certificate in area of practice.
  • UK recognised degree in Nursing relevant to post.
  • Evidence of ongoing professional development through maintenance of an NMC revalidation or equivalent.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Able to prioritise own workload and that of others as appropriate.

Desirable

  • Post-graduate qualification related to an area of practice.
  • Previous experience relevant to area of speciality.
