Job Overview:The Group Manager for Speech and Language Therapy plays a pivotal role in enhancing the communication abilities of students. This position involves:
- Evaluating, diagnosing, and providing support for students with speech, language, and communication challenges.
- Designing and implementing interventions while assessing their effectiveness for both individuals and groups.
- Working collaboratively with a multi-disciplinary team, including educators and families, to create tailored programs.
- Leading and overseeing the Speech and Language service throughout the educational institution.
- Uphold the institution's mission, vision, values, and strategic goals.
- Enforce the institution's policies on Equality, Diversity, and safeguarding.
- Engage in ongoing professional development and contribute to institution-wide initiatives.
- Manage data in compliance with GDPR regulations.
- Remain informed about the latest best practices in Speech and Language Therapy (SaLT).
- Establish systems to ensure a high standard of SaLT service delivery across the institution.
- Provide guidance to leadership on SaLT issues and collaborate with external partners.
- Ensure quality assurance of the SaLT services in conjunction with senior management.
- Supervise Speech and Language Therapists.
- Identify and address the training and development needs of SaLT personnel.
- Ensure that new staff receive comprehensive training on SaLT best practices.
- A degree in Speech and Language Therapy accredited by HCPC and RCSLT.
- English and Maths Level 2/GCSE (Grade 4 or above).
- Membership with RCSLT and registration with HCPC.
- Proven experience in staff management and working within educational environments.
- Capability to support learners with additional needs, including those with Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs).
- Experience in delivering SaLT interventions and conducting training sessions.
- Excellent communication and organizational abilities.
- Capacity to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
- Proficient in report writing and record maintenance.
- Aptitude for leading and fostering effective working relationships.
