Position Overview

We are seeking a dynamic and forward-thinking individual to join our Senior Leadership Team as the Head of Safety and Assurance. This role is pivotal in overseeing all aspects of safety and assurance within our operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and inspire a high-performing team dedicated to enhancing health and safety standards, engineering compliance, and training protocols.
  • Develop and implement industry-leading policies and procedures to ensure safe and efficient work practices.
  • Act as the primary authority on health and safety matters, ensuring compliance with legal and best practice standards.
  • Monitor adherence to key health, safety, and environmental legislation.
  • Establish strategic initiatives for effective health and safety management and employee well-being programs.
  • Collaborate with the Senior Leadership Team and key stakeholders to foster continuous improvement in health and safety management.
  • Coordinate the Safety & Assurance Management team to ensure compliance with regulations and guidelines.
  • Manage internal and external communications regarding health, safety, and environmental quality issues.
  • Provide expert guidance to the Senior Leadership Team on health, safety, and environmental quality matters.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Significant experience in the gas distribution sector.
  • Familiarity with operational systems and management procedures.
  • Proven experience in managing and coaching operational teams.
  • Experience in conducting audits within a formal risk-based framework.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of UK health, safety, and environmental legislation.

Essential Qualifications:

  • NEBOSH National Diploma Level 6 or equivalent.
  • NRSWA Certification.
  • EUSR Safety, Health and Environmental Awareness (SHEA) Gas.
  • CDM Certification.
  • IOSH Certification.
  • Associate Membership of IEMA.
  • Audit-related qualifications.
  • SCO Certification.
