A leading corporate banking and capital markets organisation, Commerzbank AG, is seeking an experienced Engineering and Hard Services Manager to oversee the operational management of hard facilities management services in London.


Main Responsibilities

Key responsibilities include:

  • Developing and managing long-term strategies for engineering maintenance and infrastructural modernisation, focusing on resilience, risk management, efficiency, performance, and cost control.
  • Delivering the operation of all hard services managed service contracts and specialist suppliers to ensure the operation of the bank's built environment and critical engineering systems, monitoring contractual KPIs.
  • Ensuring the bank meets current and future legislation and statutory requirements on all building management systems, including carbon reduction.
  • Directing, evaluating, and approving M&E designs provided by consultants and architects to ensure they meet the bank's requirements.
  • Conducting regular meetings with Managed Service Providers and Data Centres stakeholders.
  • Maintaining security concept documentation, contractor and tenant handbooks, utility metering reporting, CSR reporting, and other ad-hoc reporting as required.
  • Attending and managing any critical or major infrastructure failures, power downs, witnessing testing, or supervising business-critical shutdowns as required, acting in the capacity of an Emergency Officer in line with the company's Business Continuity Planning guidelines and policies.
  • Assisting with the coordination, development, and testing of disaster recovery plans.
  • Conducting and regularly reviewing fire risk assessments for the bank.
  • Advising on passive fire protection requirements in line with current regulations for the bank.


Requirements

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A Professional Qualification in Mechanical & Electrical Engineering.
  • Vocational experience in Hard FM Services, engineering, building maintenance, energy management, or vendor management.
  • Detailed knowledge of Health & Safety (IOSH).
  • A strong understanding of facilities and operational procurement disciplines.
  • The ability to manage employees, including outsourced functions, both on- and off-site.
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship management skills.
  • Strategic insight, planning, problem-solving, and project management capabilities.
  • Proven experience in operational risk management, financial management, and control.
