Position Overview

Shropshire Community Health NHS Trust is seeking a committed and proactive Registered Professional to assume the role of Inpatient Ward Leader for our maternity cover position.

The successful candidate will oversee inpatient care services, collaborating with therapy, non-clinical, and corporate service leaders to ensure the delivery of exceptional staff and patient experiences, ultimately supporting optimal clinical outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

The Inpatient Ward Leader will manage the daily operations of nursing services within the hospital, taking full responsibility for the management of nursing personnel and the provision of high-quality care. This role includes offering professional guidance and support to the multidisciplinary team (MDT), bringing both theoretical knowledge and practical expertise to the ward while demonstrating empathy and inclusivity through a collaborative approach.

Qualifications and Experience

Essential:

  • Professional clinical qualification.

Experience:

  • Extensive line management and supervisory experience.
  • Recent experience in community settings.
  • Application of evidence-based practice.
  • Strong understanding of roles within a multidisciplinary team.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Highly developed leadership capabilities.
  • Ability to triage referrals effectively.
  • Understanding of the skills and roles of other professionals.
  • Capacity to delegate tasks to appropriate team members.
  • Adept at managing the unpredictable nature of caseloads.
  • Knowledge of audit and research methodologies.
  • Proficient in IT.
  • Advanced presentation and teaching skills.
  • Expertise in managing patients with a wide range of complex clinical conditions and social circumstances.
