Job Title: Critical Care Outreach Nurse Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Critical Care Outreach Nurse Specialist to join our team at Doncaster & Bassetlaw Teaching Hospitals NHS FT.

About the Role

The Critical Care Outreach team provides comprehensive clinical cover 7-days a week, excluding nights, across two acute hospital sites with associated critical care units. As a Critical Care Outreach Nurse Specialist, you will be part of a team of 5 nurses working across hospital sites led by a Consultant Nurse.

The role is demanding, and we are looking for someone who is dynamic, enthusiastic, highly skilled, confident, and able to work independently, with a focus on patient safety and constantly improving standards of care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Avert avoidable admissions to critical care where possible or facilitate timely admission to critical care for patients who are deteriorating
  • Share critical care knowledge and skills
  • Facilitate timely and safe discharge of patients to wards following critical illness
  • Facilitate rehabilitation after critical illness

The ideal candidate will have significant critical care experience, a specialist critical care qualification, and up-to-date clinical and professional knowledge and skills.

Person Specification
  • Significant experience working within a critical care unit
  • Experience of supervising junior staff in caring for the critically ill
  • Experience of teaching at bedside, clinical skills, and in formal situations/classroom
  • Evidence of leading/supervising a team
  • Evidence of working autonomously/without direct supervision in a clinical role
  • Experience of working in Critical Care Outreach
