Job Title: Critical Care Outreach Nurse Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled and dynamic Critical Care Outreach Nurse Specialist to join our team at Doncaster and Bassetlaw Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing comprehensive clinical cover across our hospital sites, working closely with our critical care teams to ensure the highest standards of patient care.

Main Responsibilities:
  • To avert avoidable admissions to critical care and facilitate timely admission for patients who are deteriorating
  • To share critical care knowledge and skills with colleagues
  • To facilitate timely and safe discharge of patients to wards following critical illness
  • To facilitate rehabilitation after critical illness
Requirements:
  • Significant experience working within a critical care unit
  • Experience of supervising junior staff in caring for the critically ill
  • Experience of teaching at bedside, clinical skills, and in formal situations/classroom
Desirable Qualifications:
  • Leadership or management training
  • Advanced life support provider (RCUK)
  • Venepuncture & Cannulation
Interpersonal Skills:
  • Patient-centred, positive attitude, and proactive
  • Excellent verbal and written communication
  • Comfortable to challenge poor practice
  • Team player
Organisational Skills:
  • Excellent skills in prioritising clinical demands and workload
  • Able to work safely and effectively in situations of high pressure and shows resilience
  • Commitment to and examples of involvement in improving care/service delivery/practice
