Underwriter - Casualty Reinsurance Specialist

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Underwriter to join our Casualty Reinsurance team in London. As an Underwriter, you will be responsible for engaging with clients, brokers, and AXA XL stakeholders across the underwriting process, including renewal business and new opportunities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Independently price business and have a solid grounding in all aspects of Casualty coverage.
  • Work closely with portfolio managers to ensure risk appetite is optimized across key areas.
  • SOURCE new opportunities and utilize communication and relationship building skills to grow the portfolio profitably.
  • Be actively involved in the business planning and forecasting process, monitoring financial exposure within the account, and maintaining awareness of all claims advised.
  • Support and provide input on the settlement of claims.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in Casualty Reinsurance.
  • A personal drive for excellence, a track record of exceeding expectations, and a flair for innovation.
  • Able to perform tasks according to established procedures, with some ability to exercise discretion.
  • Uses judgment to identify and solve day-to-day problems in straightforward situations.
  • Excellent analytical skills, with the ability to think quickly and innovatively, always working in a disciplined manner.
  • High level of competency in Microsoft Excel.
  • Confident and comfortable taking personal responsibility for work, but also a true team player.
  • Aware of control processes that operate around an underwriting function and the need to comply with them.
  • Ability to adapt quickly and easily to new conditions and requirements.
  • Good interpersonal skills and an interest in business development.
  • Relevant professional designations or progressing along the way to achieving such designations.
