Job Title: Building Maintenance Technician

Join the Gilpin Hotel & Lake House team as a Building Maintenance Technician and be part of a dynamic and experienced Estates Team. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in ensuring our guests have an extraordinary stay.

Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled and versatile Building Maintenance Technician to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for undertaking repairs and maintenance tasks across the hotel and lodge infrastructure, including electrical and plumbing work, as well as constructing and maintaining walls, fences, and other external features.

Key Responsibilities
  • Undertake repairs to hotel and lodge infrastructure, including electrical and plumbing work.
  • Construct and maintain walls, fences, gates, hedges, paths, drives, patios, and surfaces.
  • Repair and maintain decks around hot tubs and lodges.
  • Respond to maintenance issues in a timely manner and record actions on the system.
  • Ensure stock levels are appropriate and replenished as necessary.
  • Maintain tools and equipment, ensuring they are in good condition and report defects promptly.
  • Escalate maintenance issues to the appropriate person when necessary.
  • Assist with projects and planned work on the estate as required.
  • Take responsibility for own health and safety and that of others, including guests.
  • Take pride in completing jobs to a consistently high standard.
  • Maintain a clean, tidy, organized, and safe working environment at all times.
Requirements
  • Previous experience in a similar level of establishment is preferred.
  • Previous maintenance and estate experience is essential.
  • Relevant qualifications in a trade are desirable but not essential.
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills to effectively collaborate with other teams on site.
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays, as per the demands of the business and adaptability to rota changes.
  • Ability to work as part of a team, helping other team members to complete tasks.
  • The ability to adapt to any request and deal with it in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Ability to work in a busy environment and under pressure.
  • Ability to work under own initiative.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Strong sense of need for achievement of goals and success.
  • High level of motivation, determination, and commitment.
  • Good health and a general level of fitness is an essential part of this role.
  • Ability to respond to urgent issues in a helpful and calm manner, prioritizing guest and staff welfare in the case of an emergency.
