Job Description

At Château de Mercuès, we are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Building Maintenance Specialist to join our Estates Team. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of our hotel and lodge infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities
  • Undertake repairs to hotel and lodge infrastructure, including door handles, door locks, light fixtures, door trims, decking boards, flooring, and shower surrounds.
  • Repair electrical items, such as changing light bulbs, replacing sockets, and changing fuses.
  • Repair plumbing jobs, including taps, washers, plugs, plumbing timers, and hot tub systems.
  • Construct and maintain walls, fences, gates, hedges, paths, drives, patios, and surfaces.
  • Repair and maintain decks around hot tubs and lodges.
  • Respond to maintenance issues in a timely manner and record actions on the system.
  • Ensure stock levels are appropriate and replenished as necessary.
  • Maintain tools and equipment, ensuring they are in good condition and report defects promptly.
  • Escalate maintenance issues to the appropriate person when necessary.
  • Assist with projects and planned work on the estate as required.
  • Take responsibility for own health and safety and that of others, including guests.
  • Take pride in completing jobs to a consistently high standard.
  • Maintain a clean, tidy, organized, and safe working environment at all times.
Requirements
  • Previous experience in a similar level of establishment is preferred.
  • Previous maintenance and estate experience is essential.
  • Relevant qualifications in a trade are desirable but not essential.
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills to effectively collaborate with other teams on site.
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays, as per the demands of the business and adaptability to rota changes.
  • Ability to work as part of a team, helping other team members to complete tasks.
  • Ability to adapt to any request and deal with it in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Ability to work in a busy environment and under pressure.
  • Ability to work under own initiative.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Strong sense of need for achievement of goals and success.
  • High level of motivation, determination, and commitment.
  • Good health and a general level of fitness is an essential part of this role.
  • Ability to respond to urgent issues in a helpful and calm manner, prioritizing guest and staff welfare in the case of an emergency.
