Overview: Become a part of the pioneering Nechipurenko lab at WPI, where you will engage in advanced research in biochemistry and molecular genetics. Our focus is on elucidating cilia assembly and neurodevelopmental disorders through the study of C. elegans and mammalian cells.
Position Summary:
We are looking for a dedicated research associate to join our vibrant team. The successful candidate will participate in a variety of molecular biology and cell culture methodologies, including PCR, microscopy, and CRISPR-Cas9 gene editing. This position presents a remarkable opportunity to investigate the genetic foundations of complex biological mechanisms.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct experiments in molecular biology and engage in plasmid design
- Perform high-resolution microscopy on both live and fixed specimens
- Carry out cell culture procedures, including transfections and immunofluorescence
- Support laboratory operations and manage C. elegans strains
Required Qualifications:
- M.S. or B.S. in Biology or a related discipline
- Excellent communication and organizational abilities
- Experience in molecular biology and genetic techniques
- Capability to work both independently and as part of a team
- Commitment to a minimum two-year tenure
