Ultra Maritime Signature Management and Power (UK) is seeking a highly skilled Product Safety Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our Engineering department, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the utmost safety standards across our cutting-edge maritime projects.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Be the primary point of contact for Product Safety Assurance of equipment design, ensuring compliance with customer requirements.
  • Provide expert advice and guidance to the wider business and external stakeholders on product safety matters.
  • Ensure safety considerations are integral to the design process, taking into account the entire product lifecycle.
  • Develop and maintain the Project Safety Management System for equipment design and delivery, ensuring its effective implementation.
  • Evolve working practices to ensure product safety can be managed in a cost-effective manner, while maintaining high standards.
  • Resolve complex Product Safety engineering issues, compile technical reports, and present findings to stakeholders.
  • Cultivate safety arguments for various equipment, utilizing all aspects of the product safety lifecycle.
  • Ensure compliance with statutory, business, and customer requirements for product safety in heavy-duty equipment.
  • Collaborate effectively with a team of Product Safety Engineers across the business.
Requirements:
  • Hold recognized expertise in Product Safety Engineering, with a proven track record of delivering a Product Safety Management System in a complex system environment.
  • Have significant knowledge of applicable legislation and standards, such as HASAWA, COSHH, REACh, BS EN 61508, and Def Stan.
  • Be degree-qualified in a relevant Engineering/Systems/Safety discipline.
Desirable:
  • Hold CEng or equivalent experience, with a goal to achieve it in the short-term.
  • Be a recognized member of a relevant industry-wide body, such as SCSC, SaRS, IET, or IMechE.
