We are seeking a highly skilled Product Safety Specialist to join our team at Ultra Maritime Signature Management and Power (UK). As a key member of our Engineering department, you will play a critical role in ensuring the highest safety standards across our cutting-edge maritime projects.
Key Responsibilities- Product Safety Assurance: Be the primary point of contact for product safety assurance of equipment design, ensuring compliance with customer requirements.
- Technical Guidance: Provide expert advice and guidance to the wider business and external stakeholders on product safety matters.
- Safety Considerations: Ensure that safety considerations are integrated into the design process, taking into account the entire product lifecycle.
- Project Safety Management: Maintain and manage the implementation of the Project Safety Management System for equipment design and delivery.
- Cost-Effective Safety: Evolve working practices to ensure that product safety can be managed in a cost-effective manner.
- Technical Problem-Solving: Resolve a range of product safety engineering issues and problems, compiling technical reports and accompanying presentations.
- Safety Argumentation: Develop safety arguments for various equipment, utilizing all required facets of the product safety lifecycle.
- Statutory Compliance: Ensure that the standards of product safety defined by statutory, business, and customer requirements are observed in the heavy-duty equipment.
- Team Collaboration: Work effectively as a team of product safety engineers across the business.
- Competency in Product Safety Engineering: Hold acknowledged competency in the specialized field of product safety engineering, with a demonstrable and successful track record of delivering a product safety management system (PSMS) within a complex system environment.
- Knowledge of Legislation and Standards: Hold significant/relevant knowledge of applicable legislation and standards (e.g., HASAWA, COSHH, REACh, BS EN 61508, Def Stan 00-056, Def Stan 00-055, etc.).
- Relevant Qualifications: Degree qualified in a relevant engineering/systems/safety discipline.
- Chartered Engineer Status: Hold CEng, or equivalent experience to achieve it in the short-term.
- Industry Recognition: Be a recognized member of a relevant industry-wide body (e.g., SCSC, SaRS, IET, IMechE, etc.).
