Job Description

Job Title: Commercial Finance Manager

Job Summary:

The Commercial Finance Manager will lead a team of 7 in the Purchase Ledger department, ensuring timely and effective processing of invoices and payments for all group companies. The role involves investigating and resolving invoice queries and payments on account to maintain a clean and well-managed ledger.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Team Management: Manage team workload, ensuring data is processed accurately and in a timely manner, and all company policies and statutory obligations are met.
  • Cash Flow Management: Closely monitor accounts to ensure cash flow is maximized, with supplier accounts being paid to terms and reconciled to statements.
  • Supplier Management: Review and manage new supplier applications in conjunction with the Procurement Team and review all supplier amendments.
  • Purchase Ledger Policy: Ensure the purchase ledger policy and payment cycle is being followed and upheld.
  • Reporting: Develop and maintain insightful management reporting on key performance indicators.
  • Month End Close: Deliver the month end close procedure, ensuring the ledger is reconciled to the trial balance.
  • Process Improvement: Instigate and lead projects that support developments and improvements within the purchase ledger function to develop and move to more streamlined digital systems.
  • Stakeholder Communication: Communicate regularly and effectively with internal and external stakeholders to ensure all parties are kept up to date on relevant matters.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Cover for Group Commercial Manager: Provide cover in the absence of the Group Commercial Manager.
  • Credit Control Team Support: Assist in the running of the Credit Control Team and support the Credit Manager, providing observations and discussion on future projects that aid the team to efficiently minimize the debtor book.
  • VSB Team Support: Assist in running the VSB team and support the VSB Manager, providing observations and discussion on future projects that aid the team to be more efficient and less reliant on paper-based systems.
  • Contract Negotiation: Review and negotiate with direction from Directors on variations to company terms and conditions for all customers and suppliers in liaison with the Procurement Manager.
  • Acquisition Integration: Aid in the integration of acquisitions into company procedures and assist those companies in delivering policies effectively within their teams, providing a point of contact to support during this process.
  • Ad-Hoc Duties: Perform ad-hoc duties as required to support the goals and objectives of the team.
