Safety Manager

Experis UK is seeking a Safety Manager to join their Engineering Team. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing, operating, and continuously improving the Safety Management Plan (SMP) for the organisation.
The Safety Manager will lead the implementation of the SMP throughout the business, establishing and reviewing safety policies and processes, and promoting a safety culture across the organisation.
The ideal candidate will have experience of implementing culture change and new "ways of working" that affect everyone within an organisation, as well as formal training or qualifications in Safety Management/System Safety Engineering.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading the implementation of the SMP
- Establishing and reviewing safety policies and processes
- Promoting a safety culture across the organisation
- Developing effective measures to drive the right behaviours and create conditions for improved safety performance
Essential skills and experience include:
- Experience of implementing culture change and new "ways of working"
- Formal training or qualifications in Safety Management/System Safety Engineering
- Experience in Goal Structuring Notation (GSN) and the creation of Safety Cases
- Minimum of 5 years functional Safety Management experience/exposure
Desirable skills and experience include:
- Working knowledge of JSP185 and DEFSTAN00-056
- Experience of embedding Safety Management Systems within the Defence or Maritime Industries
