Position Overview

Spectrum Community Health CIC is seeking dedicated and qualified Healthcare Support Associates who are registered with the NMC.

In this role, you will be tasked with evaluating patient care requirements and the formulation, execution, and assessment of care plans tailored to a designated group of patients, while also supporting the overall care of all individuals within the facility. As a Healthcare Support Associate, you will aid in the management and organization of tasks as necessary, ensuring that effective communication is upheld at all times, and providing guidance to junior personnel.

Work shifts will include weekdays, weekends, and night hours.

Key Responsibilities

Your role will be pivotal in supervising and assessing all learners and unregistered staff, fulfilling a teaching function and serving as a designated supervisor.

Utilizing your clinical expertise, you will be responsible for the assessment, planning, delivery, and evaluation of care programs, both for a specific group of patients as the designated care provider and in supporting the care of all patients within the unit. You will assist in the management and organization of tasks as required, ensuring effective communication is maintained at all times, and will provide support for junior staff on the unit (newly qualified staff will receive initial guidance). You will play a significant role in the education, development, mentorship, and assessment of all learners and unregistered staff. You will carry out nursing interventions consistent with evidence-based practices, applying your knowledge and skills to meet the needs of patients.

Qualifications and Experience

Essential

  • NVQ Level 4 in Health and Social Care.
  • Registered with the NMC and possess the Associate Nurse qualification.

Knowledge and Experience

Essential

  • Experience working with individuals with complex health needs in a healthcare or social care environment.
  • Comprehensive understanding of primary care, mental health, and addiction support, with the ability to work across these domains.
  • Experience in a multi-disciplinary team setting.
  • Knowledge of nursing procedures and practices acquired through NVQ Level 4 or equivalent and Associate Nurse qualification.
  • Understanding and application of confidentiality principles.

Desirable

  • Previous experience utilizing or accessing mental health services or caring for someone who has.
  • Familiarity with working in a correctional environment.
  • Experience working with individuals accessing Substance Misuse services or understanding clinical pathways for substance misuse.
  • Experience supervising others.

Skills and Abilities

Essential

  • Strong patient assessment skills, with knowledge of signs and symptoms of various mental and physical disorders and their effects on individuals.
  • Ability to complete tasks and escalate concerns to senior clinical staff as appropriate.
  • Well-developed verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Ability to use initiative and take responsibility for assigned tasks.
  • Ability to work independently while knowing when to seek support.
  • Proficient in computer skills, with a working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to establish positive therapeutic relationships.
  • Support service users' decision-making by building on their strengths.
  • Able to maintain accurate clinical records following clinical activities.
