Procurement and Supply Chain Specialist - Chemistry Industry

This is an exciting opportunity to join a pioneering, start-up chemistry company based in the UK. Having secured significant funding, the organisation focuses on creating innovative molecules, drugs, and materials, building an infrastructure to digitise chemistry and discover and produce molecules on demand. Since its inception, the company has experienced substantial growth, with plans to expand globally over the coming years. The company is seeking a highly motivated and driven individual to join and develop their in-house procurement and supply chain team.

  • Collaborate closely with the chemistry team, engineering team, laboratory operations team, management, and other key stakeholders to source, purchase, and expedite the receipt of critical components for commercial delivery and product development.
  • Work with the Supply Chain Manager to establish a world-class supply chain, ensuring the success of the overall business.
  • Collaborate with Finance to improve controls, quality, audits, and efficiency of processes.
  • Work with the Quality and Operations department to implement and continuously improve business-critical activities related to the supply chain.
  • Ensure rapid shipment from vendors and effective delivery to customers, considering the quality of the products received.
  • Organise service contracts for equipment, ensuring both price and quality are considered to reduce downtime.
  • Approve suppliers and maintain the approved supplier schedule for the purchase of chemicals used in manufacturing.
  • Develop effective and stage-appropriate processes for order requests, fulfilment, and delivery.
  • Take on growing responsibilities during the transformation of the company from an R&D-stage organisation to a commercial powerhouse.

Requirements for Success

The ideal candidate will be an experienced procurement professional with a degree in logistics and supply chain management or relevant work experience. You will be comfortable purchasing a range of goods and services, carrying out both direct and indirect procurement.
