Position Summary
We are excited to announce an opening for a Commercial Officer. The successful applicant will oversee the formulation and implementation of procurement strategies to fulfill stakeholder needs and develop procurement plans for designated expenditure areas. As a Commercial Officer, you will exhibit strong business insight and commercial judgment, demonstrate leadership abilities, and possess a comprehensive understanding of strategy and policy development, as well as the capacity to identify needs and sourcing alternatives within the framework of procurement processes and supplier management.
Working Model
The Student Loans Company offers a flexible working model, typically allowing for three days of remote work and two days in the office.
Candidate Profile
What you will bring:
- Proven knowledge and experience in accordance with The Public Contract Regulations 2015.
- Ability to cultivate and sustain stakeholder relationships, effectively communicating while managing outcomes and resolving challenges. Strong team collaboration skills, fostering capability and knowledge sharing.
- Solid understanding of commercial and contract management processes and methodologies.
- Experience in interpreting contractual agreements, managing controls and approval processes, and maintaining thorough records.
- Capability to apply procurement regulations, processes, and tools to create tailored contracts with robust KPIs and SLAs for performance monitoring.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a keen attention to detail and accuracy. Proficient in IT, including MS Office.
- Experience in managing complex contracts above threshold levels, demonstrating governance and review methodologies.
- Ability to identify risks and implement mitigations related to strategic procurement and contract management.
- Experience working in a matrix-style team environment.
- Background in public sector procurement activities above threshold levels.
- Experience in a public sector procurement setting, applying Procurement Regulations, recognizing shifts in business needs, and navigating complexities in commercial decision-making.
