Your Opportunity:
As a vital member of our Scene Maker team, you will have the chance to take on a crucial role as a Lead Software Engineer, focusing on delivering a comprehensive yet succinct representation of the environment surrounding an autonomous vehicle. This team operates within the Localisation & Mapping division, tasked with generating a semantic comprehension of the vehicle's immediate surroundings to facilitate informed decision-making. The Scene Maker team integrates data from both static sources, such as maps, and dynamic sources, including localisation, object detection, tracking, and semantic classifications.
Key Responsibilities:
Development:
- Design, develop, and implement software solutions for semantic understanding, systems, products, and tools.
- Engage in discussions with the team regarding high-level design choices for various components of our local scene construction framework.
- Prototype or implement and evaluate algorithms aimed at enhancing our semantic understanding systems.
- Collaborate across teams to coordinate the delivery of new features.
- Manage data from diverse sources (both static and dynamic) and ensure their synchronization.
- Develop and assess our local scene API, utilized by multiple systems.
- Conduct performance analysis and optimization of software to meet real-time operational requirements.
Leadership:
- Provide technical guidance and support to fellow members of the Scene Maker team.
- Communicate with leaders across the organization to comprehend the overall objectives, direction, and technical requirements of the company, and how these influence our team.
Communication:
- Encourage the sharing of ideas within the team and the broader organization.
- Interact with other teams to gain insights into the autonomy system and familiarize yourself with all facets of the business.
Qualifications:
What You Bring:
- Proven experience and excellence in algorithm development for robotics, particularly in semantic understanding and mapping.
- Demonstrated proficiency in software development for production systems, utilizing testing, safety, and performance metrics to guide design and implementation.
- Expertise in software development with knowledge of C++11/14/17.
- Familiarity with Python (including libraries such as Numpy, Scipy, Jupyter Notebooks, etc.).
- A systematic, scientific approach to constructing complex engineering systems.
Additional Advantages:

- A PhD or Master's degree in engineering or computer science.
