About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Environmental Case Officer to join our team at Coventry City Council. As an Environmental Case Officer, you will play a crucial role in enforcing waste management regulations and ensuring compliance with environmental health standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Investigate and enforce waste mismanagement in HMOs, including inspections and surveys to identify issues with waste storage, collection, or disposal.
  • Respond to complaints and reports of fly-tipping, littering, or illegal dumping of waste from HMOs.
  • Use powers to issue fixed penalty notices, statutory notices, or prosecution proceedings to offenders.
  • Collaborate with environmental health officers to ensure effective enforcement of waste management regulations.
  • Prepare and present evidence for prosecution cases, following relevant policies and procedures.
  • Attend court or tribunal hearings as a witness or representative of the council.

Requirements

  • Experience in enforcement, preferably in environmental health or a related field.
  • Ability to prepare and present evidence for prosecution cases.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Flexibility to work in a fast-paced environment.
