This position is crucial to the operational success of the unit. The ideal candidate must demonstrate outstanding customer service and interpersonal abilities, possess a self-driven and optimistic attitude, adapt to evolving demands, and thrive under pressure.

Candidates should be seasoned, certified Pharmacy Technicians ready to embrace a challenging role with a significant learning curve.

Key Responsibilities

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Collaborating with suppliers to enhance services for the OUH.
  • Ensuring timely ordering and receipt of medications to meet patient needs.
  • Identifying and sourcing new medications from suppliers to address emerging demands and support supply chain challenges.
  • Coordinating with Technicians and Pharmacists across various locations to provide updates on product availability.
  • Assisting the Medicines Effectiveness team with formulary management and cost-saving initiatives.
  • Updating the Pharmacy system with new contract details.
  • Providing insights on medication shortages to facilitate informed decision-making during weekly shortage meetings.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Registered Pharmacy Technician with an NVQ/BTEC level 3 in Pharmaceutical Science or an equivalent qualification.
  • Extensive experience in hospital pharmacy across various roles.

Desirable

  • Experience in supervising staff.
