Job Title: Assistant Cook

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Assistant Cook to join our catering team at St Mary's High School. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality, healthy meals for our students.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist in the preparation, cooking, and serving of food and beverages
  • Clean all equipment and catering areas
What We Are Looking For:
  • Ability to work as part of a team
  • Ability to work under pressure and use own initiative
  • Good customer care skills
  • Previous catering and food preparation experience would be desirable
Working Hours/Days:

Monday to Friday, 6 hours per day, 30 hours per week. Term time only.

Scope of Work:

Role holders will undertake a number of routine procedures and use associated tools and equipment. Some personal initiative may be required.

Accountabilities/Responsibilities:
  • Observes personal duty of care in relation to service users or equipment or resources used in the course of work
  • Role holders may be required to make minor decisions by selecting from a choice of options or by identifying straightforward solutions to simple problems
  • Role holders may be required to determine the sequence and timing of own job or that of others
Skills, Knowledge and Experience:
  • Little, or no, prior experience is required
  • Role holders will need to gain an understanding of a limited number of routine procedures that could be gained through a short induction period or on the job training or instruction
  • Ability to work as a member of a team
  • Role holders will either need previous relevant experience or specific training in the job tasks
Performance Indicators:
  • Completion of tasks to required standards and deadlines
