Research Associate in Liquid Hydrogen Fuel Systems for Aerospace

We are seeking a highly motivated Research Associate to join our team in the Power and Energy Division within the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering. The successful candidate will be working on a collaborative project with industry partners to develop novel cryogenic electrical drive technologies for liquid hydrogen fuel distribution pumps.
The role involves designing and developing high-performance sealless motor drive technologies capable of pumping cryogenic fluids, with a focus on fault-tolerant designs using embedded digital sensors and integrated platform health management systems.
Key Responsibilities- Design and develop novel cryogenic electrical drive technologies for liquid hydrogen fuel distribution pumps
- Collaborate with industry partners to integrate the developed technologies into the LH2 fuel distribution and delivery system
- Conduct research and analysis to improve the performance and reliability of the electrical drives
- Work with the team to develop and test the LH2 fuel distribution and storage system
We are looking for a candidate with a PhD (or equivalent) in a relevant degree (or about to submit) and/or relevant equivalent experience. Relevant experience in the analysis and design of electrical machines and drives is essential.
