Research Associate in Electrical Drives for Liquid Hydrogen in Aerospace

The University of Manchester invites applications for a Research Associate position in the Power and Energy Division within the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering.
This research role is part of the HyFIVE project, a strategic industrial research programme to develop and test a liquid-hydrogen (LH2) fuel system. The project is funded by GKN Aerospace / INNOVATE (ATI) and aims to demonstrate a first-of-kind Liquid Hydrogen (LH2) aerospace fuel system.
The consortium partners aspire to develop a liquid hydrogen fuel distribution and storage system to make the UK a global leader in hydrogen fuel systems technology. The University of Manchester will be responsible for developing novel cryogenic electrical drive technologies for the primary LH2 fuel distribution pumps.
We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated research assistant with a PhD (or equivalent) in a relevant degree (or about to submit) and/or relevant equivalent experience. Relevant experience in the analysis and design of electrical machines and drives is essential.
