We are seeking a skilled and driven Business Area Financial Controller to enhance our financial leadership. This position offers flexible working arrangements, requiring a minimum of three days per week in the office.

In this pivotal role, you will serve as a key member of the Finance Management Team and provide essential support to the Finance Director, stepping in as needed. You will oversee the financial operations for the UK division, encompassing Financial Accounting, Transactional Services, Financial Planning, Control, and Management Accounts.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure the precise and timely preparation of all local financial reports for Business Area management, including monthly closings, quarterly forecasts, and annual budget preparations.
  • Manage the accurate preparation of group financial reports and operational management in collaboration with Sweden, including month-end closings, quarterly forecasts, annual budgets, and treasury oversight.
  • Act as the primary liaison with external stakeholders, including banks, tax authorities, insurance providers, and audit firms.
  • Lead the annual statutory audit process, overseeing the schedule, resources, and timely completion of statutory accounts.
  • Supervise the Transactional Services Team, ensuring that all financial transactions in Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable are processed efficiently and accurately, adhering to the core financial processes.
  • Coordinate efforts to maintain positive trade working capital trends, supporting Division Managers and Heads of Commercial Finance in achieving their targets.
  • Oversee compliance with corporation tax, VAT, and other indirect tax regulations.
  • Manage the Sales Ledger, Purchase Ledger, and Approved Supplier processes, ensuring they are current and compliant with organizational standards.
  • Implement and maintain financial controls across all functional areas, including tax, banking, and general ledger management, while fostering a strong Financial Control Framework.
  • Lead financial due diligence and integration efforts for any mergers and acquisitions.

Qualifications:

  • Professional qualifications such as CIMA, ACCA, ACA, or equivalent, with a minimum of five years of post-qualification experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in a Financial Controller, Head of Finance, or Head of Accounting role.
  • Extensive knowledge of technical and statutory accounting under IFRS and UK GAAP, including acquisition accounting and group consolidation.
  • Proficient in accounting software and advanced Microsoft Office skills, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Teams.
  • Strong commercial insight with a comprehensive understanding of P&L and balance sheet management in a professional services environment.
  • Ability to influence strategic decisions and make informed commercial choices within defined parameters.
  • Proven leadership skills and exceptional stakeholder management capabilities.
  • Experience in managing financial operations across multiple locations is a plus.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, adaptable to various audiences.
