We are seeking a skilled and driven Business Area Financial Controller to oversee our financial operations. This position offers flexible working arrangements, allowing for a blend of in-office and remote work.
As a pivotal member of the Finance Management Team, you will serve as a key advisor to the Finance Director, stepping in as needed. Your leadership will guide the finance function for the UK division, encompassing Financial Accounting, Transactional Services, Financial Planning, Control, and Management Accounts.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure timely and precise preparation of local financial reports for Business Area management, including month-end closings, quarterly forecasts, and annual budget development.
- Oversee the preparation of group financial reports and operational management in collaboration with international teams, ensuring accuracy in month-end closings, forecasts, and budget management.
- Maintain primary relationships with external stakeholders, including banks, tax authorities, insurance firms, and audit companies.
- Lead the annual statutory audit process, managing timelines, resources, and the completion of statutory accounts.
- Supervise the Transactional Services Team, ensuring that all financial transactions in Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable are processed accurately and efficiently.
- Coordinate efforts to achieve positive trade working capital trends, supporting Division Managers in meeting their targets.
- Oversee compliance with corporation tax, VAT, and other indirect tax regulations.
- Manage the Sales Ledger and Purchase Ledger processes, ensuring compliance with internal standards.
- Implement and maintain financial controls across all functional areas, including tax, banking, and general ledger operations.
- Lead financial due diligence and integration efforts during mergers and acquisitions.
Qualifications:
- Professional qualifications such as CIMA, ACCA, ACA, or equivalent, with a minimum of five years of post-qualification experience.
- Demonstrated experience in a Financial Controller or similar senior finance role.
- Strong technical expertise in statutory accounting under IFRS and UK GAAP, including acquisition accounting and group consolidation.
- Proficient in accounting software and advanced Microsoft Office skills.
- Solid understanding of P&L and balance sheet management in a professional services environment.
- Ability to influence strategic decisions and manage commercial outcomes effectively.
- Experience in team leadership and stakeholder engagement is essential.
- Familiarity with multi-site operations is advantageous.
- Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, adaptable to various audiences.
