About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and skilled Catering Services Manager to join our team at Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells NHS Trust. As a key member of our facilities team, you will be responsible for leading the Catering Services department and ensuring that we provide high-quality food and beverage services to our patients, staff, and visitors.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the Catering Services team to deliver excellent customer service and high-quality food and beverage services.
  • Develop and implement strategies to improve food safety, quality, and presentation.
  • Manage budgets and resources to ensure efficient and effective operation of the Catering Services department.
  • Collaborate with dietitians and other healthcare professionals to plan and deliver patient-centered meals.
  • Supervise and train catering staff to ensure they have the skills and knowledge to deliver excellent service.
  • Work with chefs and cooks to plan and prepare menus that meet the dietary needs of our patients.
  • Ensure compliance with food safety and hygiene regulations, as well as other relevant laws and standards.

Person Specification

  • Hotel, Catering and Institutional Management Association Professional Qualification or equivalent level of experience or General management qualifications and short courses relevant to the Facilities support function.
  • Level 2/3 Certificate in Food Safety in Catering.
  • Advanced Food Hygiene Diploma to degree level equivalent.
  • Advanced Food Hygiene Certificate.
  • City and Guilds 706/1 and 706/2 (patients services Catering Manager).

Desirable Qualifications and Experience

  • Accredited to a relevant professional body such as British Institute of Cleaning Sciences (BICS).
  • Proven experience working in Catering Management or a senior supervisory position.
  • Line management including coaching and staff development and managing employee relations issues.
  • Managing a busy catering environment. Experience of IT solutions for catering/food services.
  • Experience of managing a service of similar size and scope.
  • Proven experience of service improvements and financial control.

Skills and Abilities

  • Practical application of operational procedures to satisfy regulations and legislation relating to food hygiene and environmental health.
  • Ability to present and convey information concisely and informatively.
